As the West Bengal elections draw nearer, instances of voter intimidation emerge, exemplified by Trinamool MLA Gautam Chaudhary's threatening remarks targeting Hindi-speaking residents in Howrah district.
Chaudhary, in a display of coercion, warned residents against voting for any party other than TMC, particularly targeting those from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan. He explicitly stated, "If TMC does not get the votes then think what will be the consequences," adding that he would disconnect water connections of non-compliant residents after June 4.
Sukhi Sansar building of ward number 12, he along with 100 people warned building guards and residents, saying that "on May 20, celebrate a holiday with your family, go for a trip but do not go to vote. If you go, I will get the water connection of the building cut after June 4."
Before this, on April 27, near Saket Hotel, he had threatened the Hindi speaking voters who had come from Rajasthan, Haryana, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and settled in Bengal on their own due to their hard work.
